Kathmandu, February 12

Almost all domestic and international flights to and from Tribhuvan International Airport were disrupted due to adverse weather today.

According to TIA Office, the take-off and landing of aircraft were obstructed with foggy weather in and around the runway. The airport which was completely affected till this afternoon witnessed frequent disruptions in the evening as well.

TIA Spokesperson Prem Nath Thakur said most of the domestic and international flights were affected due to bad weather condition.

Most of the domestic flights did not take off today while almost all international flights were diverted to Lucknow, India, because of weather variation.

Daily 100 plus domestic flights and 45 international flights are being operated from TIA. With disruption in flights operation, there was a big crowd of passengers outside the domestic and international terminals.

The westerly winds had caused weather variation across the country, including Kathmandu, and partial rainfall occurred in some of the places today.

According to Weather Forecast Division, the weather variation across the country was triggered by the westerly wind and rainfall was witnessed in the western belt of the country.

Meteorologist Shanti Kandel said that the federal capital and other areas of the country would witness rainfall tomorrow morning and the weather condition would improve later in the afternoon.
