Weeklong general strike in Doti called off
Dhangadi, January 9
The residents of Doti, who had been demonstrating with the demand that Dipayal be declared the provincial capital of Province 7 since last Week, called off their general strike yesterday evening.
Chairperson of Doti Chambers of Commerce and Industries Narendra Khadka said a meeting of the agitation coordination committee held at Pipalla of Dipayal decided to withdraw the indefinite strike and changed the modality of the agitation.
“As the general public was adversely affected due to the strike, we took a decision to stage a sit-in at the office of the far-western Regional Administration Office, Dipayal, from Tuesday,” said Khadka.
He said transportation, marketplaces, schools, government offices would be allowed to operate smoothly. “We have not taken back the agitation but have changed the modality. Our agitation will continue until our demands are fulfilled,” added Khadka.
People from neighbouring districts had also urged agitators to call off the bandh.
