‘We’ll act on FIRs against sacked police officers’

Dhangadi, December 19

Kanchanpur police has informed that preparations are on to take action on the FIRs lodged against police officers involved in the preliminary investigation into the rape and murder of Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur.

“As arresting the police officers falls under our jurisdiction, we’ll arrest them soon as per the law and start investigation,” said  Kanchanpur District Police Office SP Kuber Kadayat.

Nirmala’s mother Durgadevi and Dilipsingh Bista’s brother Khadkasing had filed separate FIRs yesterday at the district police demanding stern action against police officers involved in the preliminary investigation of the murder case.

While Durgadevi has accused then Kanchanpur Chief SP Dilliraj Bista and Inspector Jagadish Bhatta of effacing incriminating evidence at the site where Nirmala was found dead and other policemen of acting as accomplices, Khadaksingh filed the FIR citing the torture meted out to his brother.

Dilipsingh was wrongly identified and paraded as the murder suspect earlier.

Besides Bhatta and Bista, action has been sought against then DSP Gyan Bahadur Sethi, inspector Ekindra Khadka, Sub-inspector Harisingh Dhami, ASI Ramsingh Dhami, Head Constable Chandani Saud and CIB DSP Angur GC.

Among them, the government had suspended Bista and Bhatta on August 26 and September 16 over their doubtful role in the preliminary investigation of the murder case, acting on the report of a high-level probe committee.
