Whereabouts of Makalu Air's cargo plane still unknown

BAJURA: The whereabouts of Makalu Air's cargo plane 9N-AJU en route from Surkhet to Simikot is still unknown. The hearsay reported by several medias that the plane was traced in Bajura has proved false.

The cargo plane laden with shipments had taken off from Surket airport at 6:15 am today and was scheduled to land at Simikot airport by 6:55 am. It has been learned that the aircraft with two-member crew had forced emergency landing after it met with technical disorder in the skies of northwestern Nepal.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabin Shrestha at Humla District Police Office, two helicopters of Mountain Air have been mobilised for searching the cargo plane.

One of the helicopters of Mountain Air carried out intensive search operation in Shreenagar area of Adanchuli Rural Municipality in Humla district, but in vain. There is still no sign of the missing plane. Meanwhile, the search operation is underway, police informed.
