Kathmandu, February 26:

Ashok Singhal, executive chairman of the World Hindu Federation (WHF), today said terrorism need to be uprooted from the Hindu society and it was a pity that countries like India and the United States protested Nepal King’s February 1 move, which he said was a move against terrorism.

At a press meet organised here to announce yearlong programmes to mark the federation’s silver jubilee, Singhal said terrorism and democracy cannot go together.

Welcoming the King’s move, he said all the Hindus should come together to fight terrorism. Criticising the Indian government for protesting the King’s move here, Singhal said, “I see no reason for foreign countries to protest the emergency situation in Nepal.”

“King has already made it clear that the royal takeover is just a mean to restore peace and protect constitutional monarchy.” “How can America protest against the Royal move against terrorists when it has always been advocating fight against all kinds of terrorism?” he questioned.

Singhal was here since Thursday. He had met with the King yesterday. He left for New Delhi this evening. Meanwhile, World Hindu Federation announced yearlong programmes from April 17 to mark its silver jubilee.

The programmes include felicitating the King in foreign land, organising mahayagyas, distributing scholarships among others.
