Woman dead, husband, son hurt as auto-rickshaw overturns in Bharatpur
BHARATPUR: A person died and two others sustained injuries after the auto-rickshaw they were travelling on overturned in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-12 of Chitwan district on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Hom Maya Thapa (33) and injured as her husband Santosh Lamichhane (35) and son Sushant Lamichhane (5), residents of Tangrang Rural Municipality-4 in Gorkha district.
According to police, the incident occurred when the auto-rickshaw (Na 2 Ha 1756) en route from Narayangadh to Gondrang lost control and overturned at Basanta Chok, injuring three members of a family.
The injured were rushed to Bharatpur-based Chitwan Medical College where Hom Maya succumbed to her injuries during the course of treatment while Santosh and Sushant are undergoing treatment there.
It has been learned that the severely injured Sushant has been referred to Kathmandu-based Grande International Hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, police have impounded the auto-rickshaw and detained its driver for further investigation, informed District Police Office, Chitwan.
