DHADING, JULY 20
A woman and five goats were killed after coming into contact with a live electric pole while grazing livestock in Arughat Rural Municipality-2 of Gorkha district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as 54-year-old Dhan Kumari Gurung of Arughat Rural Municipality-1, according to police.
The incident occurred near a forest area in Arughat-2, where Gurung had taken her goats for grazing. Police said a nearby electricity pole reportedly developed an electrical fault, causing a high-voltage current to flow through the structure.
Gurung died on the spot after being electrocuted. Five goats accompanying her were also killed in the incident.
A police team deployed to the site completed the necessary legal procedures and sent the body to Arughat Health Centre for post-mortem examination.
Police and the Nepal Electricity Authority have launched an investigation to determine how the electrical short circuit occurred and whether any negligence was involved.
