GAUSHALA: A woman was found dead in a pond in Ekdara Rural Municipality-2 of Mahottari district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as local Shantidevi Bhandari (60), wife of Ramsewak Bhandari.

The incident occurred when Bhandari  — a person with physical disability — slipped into the local pond in the nearby forest yesterday while she was cleaning herself, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Malla, at the District Police Office, Mahottari.

Meanwhile, the body has been taken to the Jaleshwar-based District Hospital for postmortem.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
