RAUTAHAT: A woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Rautahat district this morning.

The body of Seema Devi (25), spouse of Mukesh Chaurasiya of Harshatole, Katariya Municipality-1 in the district, was retrieved from a paddy field some 200 metres north to her house, police said.

“She might have died last night, but the cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained,” informed Inspector Govinda Thapa, Garuda Area Police Office. He termed the incident as dubious.

The body has been sent to the Rautahat District Hospital in Gaur for post-mortem.

Mukesh and Seema had tied the knot three years ago and Mukesh is presently in Malaysia for employment for the past four months. Seema was staying with her in-laws.

The neighbours saw her body lying on the paddy field and informed police.

Investigations into the case are underway.
