GAIGHAT: A mute woman was murdered after she was gang-raped  at Rampur, Thoksila of Udaypur on Monday morning.

The body of Krishna  Kumari Katuwal, 40, of the locality was recovered from Kalikhola  Community Forest.

She was hit on the head with sharp boulders leading to  her death, said District Police Office Udaypur DSP Surendra Gurung. “We  suspect that her body was thrown on the river banks after she was  murdered in the forest,” said DSP Gurung.

The family of the deceased  started to search her whereabouts after she didn’t return home till late  evening from the forest.

She had gone there to collect fodder. “We have initiated investigation into the incident and the  perpetrator/s will be held soon,” claimed DSP Gurung. The body has been  sent to District Hospital for post-mortem.
