RAUTAHAT, AUGUST 5
Family members and in-laws have reportedly murdered a pregnant woman for not conceiving a boy in Rautahat.
Punam Sah of Bara's Pachrauta Municipality-9 was married to Rabindra Sah of Rautahat's Maulapur Municipality-7 five years ago.
Three years after Punam and Rabindra tied the knot, Punam conceived the baby. When the foetus was checked, the medical check-up found it to be baby girl. As a result, inlaws and other members pressed Punam to abort the foetus. Punam was impregnated for the second time two years later.
This made the entire family happy. When she underwent ultra sound test, the test showed she had conceived baby girl this time too.
In-laws and other family members piled a lot of pressure on her to abort the child this time too. She, however, refuted the pressure. On July 31, Punam was found dead at her home. Deceased's brother Panalal Sah, however, claimed that in-laws and other members of the family had tortured and killed her on the same day.
At a press meeting held at Gaur today, Punam's brother Sah accused police of failing to nab the perpetrators under political patronage. He drew the attention of the police to nab the guilty and punish them.
