Pokhara, August 23:

Aiti Maya Sunar, 49, of Lekhnath municipality ward number 7 in Kaski, died on the spot after a truck ran over her near a slope in Lekhnath municipality on Thursday.

Eyewitnesses said the truck (Ga 1 Kha 991) had come to dump sand for a house under construction there. Aiti Maya, who was working as a labourer on the same house’s construction site, was run over when the driver of the truck reversed the vehicle.

Angry locals obstructed the Prithvi Highway, demanding compensation to the family of the deceased.

After the truck entrepreneurs’ committee agreed to pay Rs 1.50 lakh as compensation to the family of the victim, the highway blockade was lifted.
