LAHAN: A woman was killed and her husband injured in a road accident in Siraha along the east-west highway last night.

The deceased has been identified as Bilti Gadauri (55) and injured as Ram Udgar Gadauri,(59) of Golbazaar Municipality-12 in the district.

The incident occurred when a Hiace microbus (Ba 4 Ba 6672) going from east to west hit a bicycle on which the husband and wife were travelling at Kasaha Chowk of Dhangadhimai Municipality-5, severely injuring the couple, said police.

According to police, Bilti Gadauri  breathed her last on the way to Ramkumar Umaprasad Memorial Hospital in Lahan, while the husband is undergoing treatment at Lahan-based Kamana Nursing Home, confirmed Siraha District Police Office.

Police have arrested driver Kishor Chapagain (28), resident of Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-1 in Jhapa and impounded the vehicle.

Meanwhile, further investigations into the case are underway, according to police.
