GAIGHAT: A mentally disturbed woman murdered her two minor children at Okhle of Udayapur on Wednesday night.

The culprit has been identified as Sarita Magar, 28, of Okhle VDC of the district. She murdered her four-year-old son Rasam and two-month-old daughter Soniya Magar, informed DSP Surendra Gurung.

According to DSP Gurung, the convict first attempted to kill her husband with a weapon but when she failed, as he escaped she turned to the kids and killed them instead. She was arrested while she was hiding in a field near their house.

Both the bodies have been sent to Katari Hospital for post-mortem. The woman, along with her husband, have been detained and further investigation into the murder case is under way, said police.
