Woman, teenage girl gang-raped

It has come to the light that a group of seven youths gang-raped a woman and a teenage girl at Bhotiyatole of Lahan Municipality-11, Siraha.

Hari Chaudhary of Bhotiyatole had invited a 21-year-old woman and 14-year-old girl to his home for his birthday party on the day of Laxmi Puja on Wednesday. However, they were taken to a mango orchard where he and his six friends gang-raped them.

According to police, Hari had taken the teenage girl from Laxmipur Patari and the woman of Siswani to the mango orchard near his house on his bike. Hari’s friends were already hiding there.

The complaint filed by the victims at Area Police Office, Lahan, states that Hari and his friends gang-raped them in the orchard. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Thapa said the culprits had fled when the police reached the incident site. “Police had found the woman hiding in the nearby place after an hour,” said DSP Thapa.

A special team of the police personnel has been deployed to nab the absconding youths involved in the gang-rape, according to police. Three of the alleged culprits have been identified as Hari Chaudhary, 23, Anil Chaudhary, 21, and Sunil Chaudhary, 21. Identities of four others have yet to be ascertained.

DSP Thapa said that victim girl and teenager were handed over to their family members after health check-up at Lahan-based Ram Kumar Sarada Uma Prasad Murarka Memorial Hospital.
