Woman thrashed, tortured for dowry
Nepalgunj, May 2
Farhin Siddiki’s husband and other family members had thrashed and tortured her for dowry in Nepalgunj sub-metropolis for the past eight months.
This came to light after Farhin Siddiki told journalists about her suffering and pain. “My husband and other family members have been beating and torturing me for the past six to eight months for dowry,” Farhin said.
The victim stated that they started to thrash and torture her two months after she tied the knot with her husband who was demanding a car and other ornaments. Farhin of India had married Salim Siddiki of Nepalgunj eight months ago.
The victim complained that her husband and other family members had been beating and tormenting her since then. “They have also warned that they would char me to death,” the victim said. She filed a complaint at DPO, Banke, some time back.
Farhin said that she was not allowed to visit her parents though eight months had passed since she got married.
“I was beaten and tormented at least three times a week over the dowry issue” she said.
After her husband and in-laws thrashed her mercilessly, Farhin fled to her uncle’s home in Nepalgunj where she is presently sheltering. She complained that she was not even given enough food to eat.
Following the incident, Farhin’s father and mother arrived in Nepalgunj to look after their daughter.
