Women leaders seek inclusive CA
Kathmandu, May 16:
The government talks team and Inter-Party Women’s Alliance today held a meeting at the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction on issues related to women’s equal representation in ca polls and 33 per cent representation in state affairs.
A 22-member delegation led by chairperson of the alliance, Suprabha Ghimire, submitted a six-point demand to the government talks team led by Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel.
The demands include the conduct of the constituent assembly election on the basis of proportional representation, proportional representation based on closed system with a
provision of no change once it is registered with the Election Commission. “Suggestions made by the IPWA will help in the making of an inclusive state,” said Poudel.
Earlier today, Poudel held talks with talks team of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous and Nationalities on ways of ensuring representation of Janajatis in the CA election.
