Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called everyone to join hands together to further strengthen the culture of gender equality, democratic norms and social justice.

Extending best wishes on the occasion of International Women's Day today, she mentioned that many women have still been deprived of quality education, basic health service, dignified employment and meaningful participation in leadership-level.

"Our goal is not only to increase participation. Meaningful and qualitative participation of women should be ensured," reads the message.

PM Karki argued, "Now education has expanded and awareness level has risen. So, women have been moving ahead with more determination for their rights. We also need to understand that not all women are in the same situation."

Women from socially disadvantages community and deprived from mainstream of development are even more oppressed, reads the message. She stressed the need that the voices of Dalit women, women from Karnali, Madhes and marginalized community should be clearly reflected in state's policy making.

Prime Minister Karki added, "Building an equitable society based on equality, empowerment and social justice is today's historical responsibility and this responsibility is shared duties of political parties civil society, private sector, media, national and international development partners, not only of state."

"Only when women get respect, security and equal opportunity, then democracy is strengthened, sentiments of constitution is implemented as well as building of prosperous, just and equitable Nepal is possible," reads the message.

PM Karki underscored that this Day would further strengthen equality, justice, inclusive and democratic awareness among all of us.
