Work begins in Marsyangdi
Lamjung, December 2:
Construction work in the Mid-Marsyangdi Hydro-electricity project, which was closed for the past few days due to the workers’ strike, has resumed.
Work resumed today after an agreement among the Nepal Electricity Authority and the Maoist-affiliated Federation of Nepal Trade Union and workers yesterday.
The workers had gone on strike since November 14 to press for their eight-point charter of demands.
Meanwhile, the workers have formed an ad hoc committee of the Free Workers’ Union. Shiv Raj Khadka is again the chairman of the committee.
“To counter the politically-motivated Federation of Nepal Trade Union, we have put forth the project’s Free Workers’ Union,” said liaison officer of Karna Dhoj Thapa.
