Work in PLA camps halted
Surkhet, February 3 :
Physical infrastructure management, conducted by the local camp management committee, has come to a halt in the Maoists’ People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) camps in western Nepal since yesterday.
The construction halted after the Maoists put forward a six-point charter of demands, saying that all responsibility of the camp should be handed over to the PLA soldiers.
“We have forwarded a six-point demands to the camp management central committee, including our involvement in construction and reconstruction of the camp. Work will stay halted unless our demands are met,” said Maoist Sixth Division commander Prateek.
“We have demanded that the work inside the camp should be done directly by the Peoples’ Liberation Army soldiers and not by contractors, among others,” said Prateek.
The local Maoist camp management committee was constructing toilets, kitchen, residential building for United Nations team, among other construction in Dasharathpur. Work came to a halt in Lekhpharma, Gumi and Kalyan also after the Maoists forwarded their demands.
Maoist soldiers are also preventing civil servants and contractors from working inside the camps. They turned back the civil servants and contractors yesterday from the camps.
