Yadav and Bhatta to administer oath to federal lawmakers

KATHMANDU: The lawmakers of House of Representatives and National Assembly would be administered oath of office by senior members of the concerned houses separately.

Joint Spokesperson of the Parliament Secretariat Keshav Raj Aryal said that 80-year-old Mahendra Raya Yadav would administer oath to the lawmakers of House of Representatives and 69-year-old Tara Devi Bhatta would administer oath to the lawmakers of National Assembly.

Based on the documents forwarded by the Election Commission, Yadav of the House of Representative elected from Sarlahi-2 representing the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal is the senior-most lawmaker while Bhatta of Nepali Congress is the senior-most lawmaker in the National Assembly.

After being administered oath of office from the President, both the senior citizens would administer oath to other members of the respective Houses.

Likewise, Yadav would carry out the duties of the Speaker until the election of the Speaker while Bhatta would take the charge of National Assembly Chairperson until the election for Chairperson.

The swearing in ceremony would be held in the Federal Parliament House on 4 March.

The President has summoned the maiden meeting of House of the Representatives at 4:00 pm on 5 March on the recommendation of the government.
