Yarsa collector found dead

DHANGADHI, July 30

A youth, who had gone to collect the herb yarsagumba a week ago, was found dead at Dhungilek of Kanda VDC, in Bajhang, on Thrusday.

The deceased has been identified as Dhirka Bahadur Bohara, 28, of Kanda-3, informed SP Tulashi Prasad Adhikari of far-western regional police office, Dipayal.

According to Ram Chandra Dhami, kin of the deceased, he had sought police help to find the whereabouts of Bohara as the latter didn’t return home after he went for yarsa collection a week ago.

Preliminary investigation of the police has led to the suspicion that he was murdered. Security personnel have detained as many as 32 persons surmising their involvement in the crime and investigation is under way.

The body was recovered an hour’s walking distance from his rented room, informed the police office.

It has also been reported that a bag with yarsa and Rs 5,000 cash was looted from Bohara. Robbery and criminal incidents have been reported during the yarsa-picking season every year.
