Yarsha picker found dead in Jumla

JUMLA: A Yarshagumba picker, who was returning home after collecting the prized fungi, was found dead here in the district on Thursday.

Police identified the deceased as Mun Bahadur Rawal (39) of Gajyangkot-2, Jumla.

According to police, Rawal had moved to Patan of Mugu to collect Yarsha, also known as Himalayan Viagra,  on May 23. Wrapping up this season's collection, he left for his home on June 24. He was expected to reach home on June 26.

Locals in support of police searched for Rawal when he did not make it to home on the stated date.

Sub-Inspector Prem Regmi informed that Rawal was found dead some 500 metres down from Duiya cliff in Gothichaur-9.

After four days of search operation, police found Rawal's decaying body. His remains were handed over to the family members.
