YCL demilitarisation fiat a score for YF: Khanal

Kathmandu, August 6:

CPN-UML general secretary said today that Youth Force should spread to every nook and crany of the country. Khanal’s statement came at a time when CPN-Maoist chairman Prachanda said the Young Communist League (YCL) dismantle its paramilitary structure.

“YF should spread to every ward of the country,” Khanal said addressing the first Kathmandu Valley gathering of the Youth Force organised by the Central Youth Force Department of Democratic National Youth Federation (DNYF).

“Prachanda today asked the YCL to dismantle its paramilitary structure. This is a victory of the Youth Force,” Khanal claimed. He said the CPN-UML would be the largest party in the next election with the help of the YF.

Talking about the current political scenario, Khanal said the four major parties have begun drafting common minimum programmes that would pave the way for government formation. “If the Maoists fail to form the next government, the country will not remain in

vacuum for long.

Another party will form the government,” he said. Another leader KP Oli said the Youth Force should have been formed four years ago. He also emphasised the need to expand the base of YF throughout the nation.

Hinting at the Maoists, UML leader Bamdev Gautam said size alone would be of no use if a party does not have experience and skill to form government.

YF in-charge Mahesh Basnet announced that they would gherao the office of Nepal Oil Corporation on Friday and hand over officials involved in irregularities in the supply of petroleum products to state authorities.

“If the NOC failed to distribute fuel to the needy, we will seize NOC tankers and distribute fuel to the people,” he said and highlighted YF’s plans to help victims of floods and landslides.

At the function, general secretary Jhal Nath Khanal, KP Oli and Bamdev Gautam welcomed dozens of youths into the YF fold with head straps labelled Youth Force.
