Tribhuvan International Airport closed amid escalating Gen Z protests; curfews and fatalities deepen crisis

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 9

Yeti Airlines has cancelled all scheduled flights for today, citing the nationwide curfews, security concerns, and worsening circumstances in the Kathmandu Valley.

The announcement came hours after Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Nepal's only international gateway, was completely closed on Tuesday.

According to the airport officials, repeated fire incidents in areas such as Gothatar and rising aviation security risks forced the suspension of all domestic and international flights.

The Nepali Army has been deployed to secure the airport premises.
