KATHMANDU: A Yeti Airlines plane overshot the runway of Bhairahawa Airport on Saturday afternoon while landing. All passengers of the aircraft, however, are said to be safe.

An official at the Gautam Buddha (Bhairahawa) Airport told THT Online on the condition of anonymity that all passengers and crew members aboard the plane are safe.

There were 29 passengers and three crew members aboard the plane are safe, according to the Yeti Airlines.

The private airliner said technicians have been sent from Kathmandu for the needful maintenance.

The plane had left the Tribhuvan International Airport of Kathmandu on its regular flight this afternoon. It had overshot the runway and reached a grassland while landing at around 5:00 pm today.

“Flight no NYT893 on aircraft 9NAIB was involved in runway excursion at the Bhairahawa Airport,” the airline company also informed on its Twitter page, “All passengers and crew safe.”

The aircraft has been grounded at the airport for maintenance.
