Youth arrested on charge of human trafficking

GAUSHALA: Police on Friday arrested a youth, while trying to traffic four women to Kuwait via India, alluring them of finding work for them in Kuwait, from Mohattari district.

The arrested person is 26-year-old Tek Bahadur Kalikote, the son of Surya Bahadur Kalikote of Hariaun municipality-8 in Sarlahi district, the District Police Office, Mahottari said.

Police rescued the four women while they were being trafficked to India and arrested Tek Bahadur who was taking them there.

The women rescued are 20-year-old Usha Tamang of Helambu rural municipality -5, 20-year-old Kul Maya Tamang of Mahakal rural municipality-7 and 20-year-old Ranjana Tamang of Banskharka rural municipality-3, Sindhupalchok district, and 22-year-old Kanchhi Maya Tamang of Marinkhola rural municipality-5, Sindhuli district.

A police team which was on patrol at the time intercepted them while they were about to enter Kanhama town of Sitamadhi district in India at 10 pm on Thursday.

Police said the women would be handed over to their parents while a case on human trafficking would be filed against the accused trafficker Kalikote.
