Kavre, February 18:

A youth died when a passenger bus, heading from Dolakha to Kathmandu, hit a motorcycle at Dhulikhel bus park last night. Police said the passenger bus, Ba 2 Kha 4666, belonging to Arniko Yatayat Sewa Samiti, hit the motorbike, Ba 26 Pa 1940, in which Raju Jangam, 30 of Dhulikhel-1 died.

The irate locals after the incident vandalised the bus and obstructed the road. The bus and its driver have been taken into custody, police said. Dhulikhel remained tense all day today after irate youths obstructed the Arniko Highway and gheraoed the district administration office demanding compensation for the bereaved family and legal action against the culprit. The talks held between CDO, security officials and victim’s family finalised that a compensation of Rs 3,25,000 will be paid to the bereaved family. Meanwhile, bandh called by Tamangsaling autonomous state council hit life in Kavre, Nuwakot and Dhading districts today.
