Youth Force shuts Damauli bazaar

Tanahun, February 24:

The Tanahun district chapter of Youth Force today shut Damauli bazaar, demanding action against groups or persons involved in the killing of its activist Gore Pariyar (26).

Pariyar’s body was found on the bank of Seti River in Belbas VDC of the district yesterday.

“This is only our symbolic protest. We will intensify the protests if action was not taken against the culprits,” Baburam Adhikari, president of Tanahun chapter of the Youth Force, said.

Youth Force cadres demonstrated throughout the day in district headquarters, demanding arrest of the culprits. They also urged locals to close the bazaar.

The agitators obstructed traffic on the Mugling-Kotre stretch of the Prithvi Highway for three hours. Hundreds of passengers were stranded due to the strike.

Youth Force activists also shut schools and colleges and returned the students to home from the educational institutions. The number of locals visiting the government offices for official works was also small today.

“We have arrested two suspected persons for investigation. We cannot disclose their identities now, as the investigation is underway,” police inspector Mahendra Khadka said.
