Youth wings to raise policy issues

Kathmandu, March 3:

A consortium of seven youth wings of the political parties today unveiled details of proposed nationwide interactions and workshops to draft a concept paper on youth policy.

A joint press statement issued by Tarai Madhes Youth Front, Nepal Tarun Dal, Progressive Youth Association Nepal, Democratic National Youth Federation Nepal, Madhesi Youth Forum Nepal, Youth Forum and Young Communist League Nepal stated that they were all set to mobilise youths to take giant strides in the nation building process.

“At a time when the government is planning to frame a National Youth Policy, we felt utmost need to jointly organise interactions in all five development regions and 75 districts to support the plan and help translate the vision of prosperous Nepal into reality,” reads the statement.

According to the statement, the youth wings will organise the programmes in three phases. In the first phase, regional level interactions will be held in Birgunj on March 6 and 7, in Itahari on March 22 and 23, in Bhim Dutta Municipality on March 30 and 31, in Nepalgunj on April 2 and 3 and in Butwal on April 16 and 17. The second phase of interactions will be held in all the districts from where feedbacks and suggestions will be collected from the participants.

They will hand over a concept paper on youths to the Prime Minister on their third phase of protest.
