Youths to get loan against academic certificates

A local level in remote Bajura district is all set to grant loan to youths against their academic certificates.

Gaumul Rural Municipality of the district has decided to provide loan to youths as part of its self-employment programme in each ward of the municipality.

The rural municipality has decided to develop local infrastructure and adopt employment schemes suitable for youths under the programme.

“The scheme, introduced by the KP Oli-led government, looks to work for us. So we have decided to give it a go,” said Hari Bahadur Rokaya, chairperson of the rural municipality. He added that the rural municipality has allocated Rs 9 million for the plan.

The rural municipality has also decided not to let its development budget freeze.

Similarly, it has decided to set up cooperatives in all villages and distribute social security allowances through banks, give top priority to school education, enhance health services and promote local industries, including tourism, in the rural municipality.

The rural municipality has a total budget of 217.4 million rupees for the fiscal of 2074/75. Of the amount, 80 million rupees is designated as development budget.
