2010, A Love Story to come true for Manisha

KATHMANDU: It seems the Cinderella girl of Bollywood has come of age, finally. Manisha Koirala has decided to tie the knot.

Once the most sought-after actress in the world’s largest film industry, Manisha has chosen her bridegroom from outside the silver screen. According to family sources, she is marrying Samrat Dahal, a young businessman from Maharajgunj. The wedding is set for June 19, but a formal announcement has not been made.

Manisha’s would-be-hubby, Dahal is educated in the US and owns a company that deals with alternative energy. Originally from Sindhuli, Dahal is the son of Surendra Dahal, the owner of Leather Wings.

The Manisha-Samrat courtship dates back to a couple of years. Only three weeks ago, did it occur to love-struck Manisha that she would marry Samrat.

“He is well-educated and comes from a family with an excellent background. I like him and I respect her decision,” said Manisha’s politician father Prakash Koirala.

According to family sources, the day for the marriage was finalised today itself. Priests have proposed June 17 for the Swayambar, 18 for Mehendi and 19 for the marriage ceremony.

Manisha made her foray into the world of cinema with a Nepali flick Pheri Bhetaula. In 1991, a celebrated Bollywood director gave her a break in ‘Saudagar,’ a mega hit of the decade. Manisha earned accolades in true sense with the Bidhu Binod Chopda movie ‘1942 A Love Story’ in which she was paired with Anil Kapoor. Manisha’s two decades in Mumbai was full of ups and downs.

Granddaughter of BP Koirala, Manisha last came to Nepal when Girija Prasad Koirala died on March 20. Currently, she is busy in Kerala shooting for a Telegu film.

It is not sure whether Manisha will say sayonara to the tinsel town after June 19. Her soon-to-be life partner said he would leave it all to her.
