Cabinet divided over NRB governor appointment
KATHMANDU: The regular cabinet meet on Wednesday which was held in Singha Durbar, failed to reach a decision on a new governor of the Nepal Rastriya Bank, the central bank of the nation.
According to Minister for Information and Communication Shankar Pokharel, the meet decided to elevate Brigadier General Kumar Budhatoki to the post of Major General in the Nepal Army, appoint Bishwanath Singh as Executive Director in the Nepal Food Corporation and Anup Baskota as Executive Director of Information Study Centre. Likewise, the government liquidated state owned industries which are not in operation. It also approved the work plan for the Amalekhagunj-Birgunj pipeline for the petroleum supply and the visit of the Chief of Army Staff Chhatraman Gurung to the UK which is slated for October 4 to 8, 2010.
However, the much anticipated appointment of the governor could not be finalised due to differences in the cabinet.
