Gachhadar calls for unity among Madhesi parties
BIRGUNJ: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Planning and Works Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar said that there are challenges for the political parties in taking the peace process to a logical end and drafting a new constitution as per the aspirations of the people. The DPM Gachhadar was speaking at an inauguration programme of his party Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum Democratic (MJF-D) Parsa office at Adalat Road in Birgunj on Friday.
The DPM Gachhadhar, who is also the chairman of MJF-D, said that his party is ready to take on the challenge of the country. Talking about one Madhes one Pradesh, Gachhadara said his party would put pressure from the street and the House and all the Madhes based parties should be united till the demand is fulfilled.
Likewise, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation and MJF-D leader Sarat Singh Bhandari echoed similar sentiments and said his party is committed for the One Madhes One State. Other Ministers including Agriculture and Cooperation Minister Mirgendra Kumar Singh, State Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation Karima Begam, and State Minister for Physical Planning and Works Kalawati Pasawan were present in the function.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested four cadres of the UCPN-Maoist who greeted the DPM with black flags. They are ANNISU leader Pravakar Gupta, Rambabu Yadav, Ajut Kushwaha and Teja Singh.
Before this incident, the police had arrested four cadres including Bindeshor Yadav and Sahid Ansari, Ajaya Chaurasiya of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum led by Upendra Yadav. Security has been beefed up due to the five ministers’ visit here.
MJF cadres set fire to ministers vehicle
The cadres of the MJF attacked a traffic police van escorting for the five ministers by sprinkling petrol on it before setting it ablaze. The van was parked outside Samjhana Hotel where the ministers were having a meal following the inauguration of their party office. However, timely action by bystanders prevented the vehicle from being damaged.
