Join us: Dahal to Madhesi parties
BIRGUNJ:Chairman of the Unified CPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ urged the Madhes-based parties to quit the government.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the Ekta Rastriya Sammelan of the Madhesi Rastriya Mukti Morcha (Revolutionary) in Narayani Stadium here today, Prachanda said, “The Nepali Congress and the UML were against the republican set-up for years and they can’t give us a republican state.” He urged the Madhes-based parties not to deceive the Madhesi people and called them to leave the government and join us.
He wanted to know why the Madhes-based parties were silent while the party that came to power after a decade long war was sidelined. He claimed that Madhesi Janadhikaar Forum president Upendra Yadav was under immense pressure to join the government. He added that attempts to isolate the Maoists were underway even by enlisting the support of MJF.
Prachanda’s remarks come at a time when Upendra Yadav is in New Delhi.
Coming down heavily on Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar for suggesting that army should be mobilised army against the Maoists, Prachanda said those who mobilised army against the Maoists would face the plight of the deposed king.
He also criticised the ruling parties for condemning the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s call to form a national government as intervention in Nepal’s internal affairs. “How can his wish for peace in Nepal be construed as intervention? In fact, making a person who lost elections as prime minister is intervention,” he added.
