KC blames Maoists for doubtful deadline

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narsingh KC on Sunday expressed doubt on the timely promulgation of the statute.

Addressing a programme organised to mark the 20th anniversary of the Financial Institution Employees Union of Nepal (FIEUN) in Kathmandu, KC said, "As the Unified CPN-Maoist is only raising the concern for constitution writing by sidelining the peace process, there is a risk that the constitution may not be promulgated in the stipulated deadline in such a context.”

He blamed the UCPN-M for not being serious towards the peace process and implementing the past agreements.

He said. “The return of the seized land and property to their rightful owners, management of the PLA fighters and dismantling the semi-military structures of the Young Communist League are some of the pre-requisites for the Maoists for the promulgation of the constitution.”

The FIEUN took out a morning rally to mark its 20th anniversary in Kathmandu in the morning. The rally that started from New Baneshwor went through different parts of the city before it concluded at Maitighar Mandala.
