Leaders repeat their statute commitments
KATHMANDU: Amid pressure piling up for the timely drafting of a new constitution, leaders representing various political parties in the CA Saturday reiterated their commitments to promulgating the new constitution within the stipulated timeframe.
Speaking at a mass meet organized to pay tribute to the late Girija Prasad Koirala at Khulla Manch in Kathmandu, the leaders also stressed on the need of forging consensus and cooperation among the political parties to bail the country out of this critical situation.
Addressing the mass, PM Madhav Kumar said nothing but success in the peace process and the statute drafting task would serve a real condolence to the late GP Koirala, whose demise he said has drawn an era of Nepali politics to its close.
Appreciating the resolve of the late Koirala, UCPN-Maost chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said it is noteworthy to emulate the deceased NC leader’s determination in addressing the country’s urgent issues of the peace process and constitution writing task.
UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal, CA chairman Subas Nembang, RPP-N chairman Kamal Thapa, TMDP chairman Mahanta Thakur and RJP presidnet Surya Bahadur Thapa alongside other leaders expressed their views at the mass meeting.
