KATHMANDU: To reveal the life and musical journey of Bhajan Shiromani Bhakta Raj Acharya, the Silk Route Pictures (SRP) is making a movie based on his life called Acharya.
Organising a press meet on November 15 at Vintage café and Pub, Durbar Marg SRP
informed that the shooting of the movie, which will be done in different parts of Sikkim and Nepal will start from first week of December 2009.
The movie is being directed by Prashant Rasaily while Roshan Rai is the producer of the movie. Satya Raj Acharya, the eldest son of Bhakta Raj Acharya will be playing the role of his father. Except for one, all the songs in the film will be the original compositions of
Bhakta Raj Acharya. His youngest son Swoorup Raj Acharya will be lending his voice to one of the songs. SRP also informed that it will select around 80 new artistes for the movie through an audition being held at Hotel Ambassador on November 17 .
“The movie is not just about musical journey of the legendary singer but will also depict his real life story,” said Satya Raj Acharya adding that he has been chosen for the lead role as his face and style of singing matches his father’s. “The film will bring out the real story of the singer in the best possible way,” said Rasaily.
He added that the movie is scheduled to be completed by April/May 2010.
