Melodies of peace

KATHMANDU: It was almost a dream come true for Nepali rock music lovers to watch their idols and big names of music industry Mukti n’ Revivals, Robin and the New Revolution and 1974 AD sharing the stage, an ultimate treat for anyone. The crisp sun not very hot but warm and bright made Saturday afternoon of June 6 just so perfect to enjoy some good music and some fun time with friends. And on the very day the prayers of many was replied by Kathmandu medical college organising ‘Keeping the faith for peace’ and bringing in three well known rock and blues bands of Nepal coming together to rock everyone for peace. The deserted go-carting track in one corner of the fun park, now turned into an open ground made the perfect venue for live performance and youths thronging in to listen to their favourite bands perform created the perfect ambience for the concert.

The concert started with all girls band Cadence of St Mary’s College doing the opening act performing some of their original numbers and one cover song. The band was well received by the crowd but it was obvious they were eegar to hear the popular bands perform. Soon Mukti n’ Revival took on the stage making the crowd go berserk with their ever popular songs. Front man and vocalist of the band Mukti Shakya knows perfectly what the crowd wants and he fulfilled their demands. Playing almost every song the crowd demanded music lovers got to hear Basanta udayo, Chaubandi cholo, Na hera malai among others. Their new song Dekhdai chu ma spoke volumes about the situation and changes in the country.

The band left the stage for rocker Robin Tamang and his band the New Revolution who was welcomed with cheers and screaming from the crowd. Hypnotising all with his booming voice and unbeatable humour Tamang surely created waves of excitement making all get up and head bang. Singing their all time hits like Nepal, Keta keti and Dum maro dum. Despite his leg injuries Tamang was active and electrifying as ever on the stage. Last but never the least band to perform at the concert was the band 1974 AD who not only captured the audience

with their ever green songs but also with their stage presence. Urging the crowd to scream louder and

sing along the band played their hits like Pinjada

ko suga, Maan ta mero, Parelima, Chudaina timro maya le among others. Keeping in mind the theme of the concert they also dedicated the song Bardan for the youth and encouraged them to work towards what they believe.

The event was presented by Bajaj Pulsar 180 DTS-i and supported by Mero Mobile.
