Minister Sherma rules out govt shuffle

BAGLUNG: Minister for Local Development and Nepali Congress central member Purna Kumar Sherma on Thursday said that the talk of government change is a fresh rumour spread by the Unified CPN-Maoist.

Sherma, who arrived in Baglung to take part in a condolence function organised on the 13th day of the demise of party president Girija Prasad Koirala, said, “Since the government is a majority one, only the majority of parliament can change it.” He said that NC has not thought of an alternative to the current government.

Talking to media persons, Sherma said that the government is committed to promulgate the constitution in the stipulated deadline and take the peace process to a logical conclusion.

Stating that the integration of PLA fighters will be taken forward as per the Comprehensive Peace Accord, he said, they can be integrated by forming different security forces including forest security force, highway security force and industrial security force.

He said that NC will now move ahead through a collective leadership in which the leader who is selected from the democratic process will lead the NC and will be the real follower of the late Koirala.

He emphasised on consensus, cooperation and unity among the political parties to institutionalise the republic and take the peace process to a meaningful end.
