Ratna Park, Jamal tense

KATHMANDU: Following the deaths of six Indians the Ratna Park-Jamal area has become tense on Wednesday. The police have not allowed any vehicle to ply in the area. Irate people are chanting slogans demanding investigation into the matter. A large number of the police personnel has blanketed the area.


Six Indians were killed and one seriously injured after being hit by a speeding car near Bhotahity in Kathmandu early morning. All the Indian nationals belonged to Bihar state from India and were residing in Kathmandu. The accident occurred after a Toyota car being driven by one Biplab Mansingh hit them while they were walking on the pavement. Reports said that the victims were returning from Bir Hospital. The deceased have been identified as Beena Singh, Trishna Gupta, Madan Kumar Gupta, Sanjiv Gupta and Dharma Nath Sinha. Identity of one of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. One of the seriously injured Dipak Gupta is being treated at Bir Hospital. According to reports, Biplab abandoned the car and fled the scene after the accident. Police have arrested Biplab’s father and elder brother after the accident.
