BIRATNAGAR: The OPD services in Koshi Zonal Hospital in Biratnagar have been halted following an assault on two laboratory staff members on Wednesday. Doctors and employees halted the services as an intern student of National Institute of Technology at the hospital, thrashed the lab technician Rewati Pokharel and his assistant Bablu Raya with chairs for not being allowed to perform lab tests.

After the incident Pokhrel is said to be recovering at the emergency ward of the hospital.

The agitating doctors and employees have demanded security at the hospital and have warned they would not return to duty until the guilty are punished. Hundreds of patients were affected due to the strike. Patients were forced to return from the hospital after reading the notice of closure of services following the strike.
