Sushil takes up GPK quarters in Maharajgunj
KATHMANDU: Widely perceived as a man of simple living, the unmarried Nepali Congress (NC) acting president Sushil Koirala shifted to Krishna Raksha Rajbhandari’s luxurious residence in Maharajgunj on Tuesday.
It was also the private residence of the late NC president Girija Prasad Koirala for nearly two years after resigning from the post of Prime Minister in July 2008. The late GPK had shifted from there to his daughter Sujata’s residence in Mandikhatar eight days before his demise.
It has been learnt that Sushil shifted to the new address due to inconvenience in receiving foreign dignitaries and political party leaders in his previous residence. Though he has been holding an executive post after the unification of the two parties NC and NC-Democratic in 2007, his responsibilities have increased after the demise of the late GPK.
Earlier, Sushil was residing at his nephew Ramesh Bhandari’s residence in Buddhanagar.
