TUTH drama subsides with services set to resume
KATHMANDU: The crisis at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) was resolved after 18 days following a strike by the resident doctors and faculty of TU's Maharajgunj Medical College after talks were held at the Ministry of Education on Wednesday.
Emerging from the meeting Dr Kabirnath Yogi, chairman of the Faculty of Doctors Association of the TUTH said their strike ended with the decision to open the hospital from tomorrow and informed that a new five member probe has been formed for the irregularities in the examination of the MS and MD in TUTH. He added that it would tender its reports within fifteen days.
Irate locals attacked the medical staff on Wednesday morning during a silent rally organised by the agitating doctors in the hospital premises to pressurise the authorities for the fulfillment of their demands.
Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has condemned the attacks on doctors and urged for action against those involved in violent activities.
