Genuine concern of a citizen

The saying goes, “Rome was not built in a day”, which I think means we should not expect to build something great in a short period of time. It takes really a lot of time and effort to achieve something important. You must work hard and overcome many challenges if you want to complete your goal.

Seeing the pathetic condition of Nepal, it is quite normal to grow frustration and cynicism. As it is, they say nothing happens in Nepal. The politicians and experts are supposedly corrupt and bad. So it’s an extremity of foolishness to wait for some miracle to happen. As a result, many young people wish to leave their motherland for any other countries around the world. Brain drain is the reality.

Worries and frustration can also bring positive results. To develop our country, to end the abject poverty and to raise the standard of our education, we have the potential. There are immense possibilities: our geography can be an asset for our development. It can become one of the finest tourist destinations in the world. Rivers can be utilized for hydropower development and irrigation. Our medicinal herbs can earn cash. Then why are we worrying? And, why is Nepal critically facing brain drain problem? Are worries justifiable?

The above mentioned possibilities are based on theoretical potentials only. All that glitters is not gold. All the potentials may not materialize. To convince Nepalese people for their secure future, the foundation for the progress must be built. Unfortunately, not much foundation has been laid so far. Even the few bases that we have are already deserted, and are useless and old. We are fighting for the so called identity.

Also, we are fighting for petty reasons, personal interests. People seem to have forgotten the very essential things to consider. We will remain only if Nepal stands well. We can search for our identity in a prosperous and well developed Nepal.

However, every cloud has a silver lining. Foundations can be created now. Our dedication and hard work will definitely make a new Nepal. Drafting of a good constitution will be our landmark for a better future. Let’s join hands together. We must work hard and keep working hard if we want to build something great i.e. a prosperous and developed Nepal.
