TOPICS: Well-being of elderly

Longevity is a public health achievement, not a social or economic liability.

Let us pledge to ensure the well-being of older persons and to enlist their meaningful participation in society so we can all benefit from their knowledge and ability.

Let’s go to a story how old persons are struggling in this world.

Physically with a feeble body, fully whitened hair, wrinkled skin,   heart filled with pain and mind which always wander in the rambling thoughts about the deadline of life, living with a non-living friends supporting in every moment to cover the minute portion of life i.e. stick, old and torn clothes, father and mother of two sons and four daughters but there is no one around them when they wake-up in another suffering day.

They are existing in a dreary world. I realize how social Darwinism is existing in every corner of the world with people of different circumstances. Lots of brighter morning and monotonous nights pass without any significant notice.

I think they are bored with their about 72 years of experience in this selfish world, conspiracy, non-civilization among the bulldozers, gossipmongers, whiners.

Seeking for a place where they can enjoy from the inner core of their soul, they always wander in their dreams, but their physical capacity of wandering is now wholly dependent over an old and stout stick.

But I am amazed to see the endeavor of old couples to knit and strengthen the thread of love, affection and belief.

I wonder to observe their pure laugh without teeth. Most people nowadays tend to smile but can never go to the depth of laughter.

These couples preparing their breakfast, lunch and dinner and living a satisfactory life provided me the chance to learn how to love, care, struggle and enjoy life.

Though being alone and far from siblings, they are happy. If you worry more about the things that you lose than you can never appreciate the value of the things that you have. Life is a travel of happiness, sorrows, separation, and connection.

If we can accept these portions of life easily, then, happiness will follow. There will always be an application of struggle in our life. It is for you to determine whether to focus on injurious thorns or a pretty petal of a rose..

Life is a gift and it depends on us how to decorate our gift.

We should respect and love older persons because they are our father, uncle, grandpa and so on.

According to a recent report one in every 100 older person is being deprived of love, care and basic needs.
