KATHMANDU, JULY 29
Devotees carry a centuries-old Buddhist idol towards a prayer site to offer Panchadana and take part in the grand procession of Dipankara Buddha in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
While the procession and Panchadan programme are being held today to commemorate the Samyak Mahadan, the sacred Buddhist ceremony itself-traditionally held every 12 years-has not taken place for the past 24 years.
