75th anniversary of US – Nepal diplomatic relations
KATHMANDU, APRIL 23
A United States high-ranking Congressional delegation led by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (New York) including Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (Rhode Island), Cory Booker (New Jersey), Mark Kelly (Arizona), and Representative Mondaire Jones (17th Congressional District , New York), met with political leaders and discussed a wide range of issues in Kathmandu on Saturday.
The delegation met with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Minister of Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka, Chairperson of CPN-UML and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and political leaders to discuss various issues related to the US-Nepal partnership.
Dr Narayan Khadka and the delegation exchanged views on expanding cooperation in various areas, including economic development. Views were also shared on areas of common interest at bilateral & multilateral levels.
Similarly, PM deuba and the congressional delegation exchanged views on Nepal-US friendship and ways for enhancing multifaceted partnership involving governments, parliaments and people in general. They also discussed global issues including climate change.
