China's Chang'e 5 probe up for a new mission, to the sun
KATHMANDU: China stunned everyone last month when its lunar probe, Chang'e 5, succeeded to bring rocks and dust from the moon -- world's first lunar sample-return mission since 1976.

And now, the Chang'e 5 is gearing up for another expedition, this time to observe the sun, and is expected to be there by mid of March.
According to Zhaoyu, Lagrange Point 1 is located between the Earth and the sun and is an ideal position for monitoring solar activities.
Lagrangian points, in Earth-Sun system ,are more gravitationally stable than other points in space, making the probe easy to orbit the sun without spending much of its fuel.
After reaching the L1 point, the orbiter will observe the sun and learn more about space weather, conditions in space caused by activity on the sun.
We already know that Solar Cycle 25 has started with solar activity expected to increase in the coming years. It means that there will be more sunspots, more flares on the sun, and more of the coronal mass ejections sweeping through our solar system, potentially affecting earthly technologies.
