KATHMANDU, JULY 19

Facebook users across multiple regions reported widespread access issues on Sunday afternoon, with the platform's browser version displaying an error message stating that accounts were "temporarily unavailable" due to a site issue.

According to Downdetector, thousands of users reported problems accessing the Meta-owned social media platform. At around 1:34 pm, the outage tracker recorded 4,848 reports, while 3,249 reports were still being logged by 2:49 pm.

Most complaints were related to the website version of Facebook, accounting for 59 per cent of reported issues. Login-related problems made up 21 per cent of reports, while 13 per cent were linked to the mobile app.

Users attempting to access Facebook were shown a message saying: "Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes."

Some users also reported temporary issues accessing Instagram through web browsers during the disruption.

Meta had not issued an official statement on the cause of the outage by the time of publication. The disruption was ongoing at the time of writing, with users continuing to report access problems on outage-monitoring platforms.
